What to include in a Romanian offer letter

A Romania offer normally covers:

  • Position, job duties and place of work
  • Gross monthly salary in RON — Romanian pay is discussed gross
  • Contract duration (indefinite or fixed-term)
  • Probation period (90 days, or 120 for management)
  • Annual leave (minimum 20 working days) and working hours
  • Notice periods for both sides

The written contract comes first

The individual employment contract must be concluded in writing, in Romanian, and registered in the general employee register (REVISAL) before the employee starts work. The offer letter is where you align on terms before that signature; unregistered work carries penalties.

Probation, notice and leave

Probation is 90 calendar days for ordinary roles and 120 for management positions; during probation either party can end the contract without notice. After probation, the statutory notice for dismissal is 20 working days (longer, often 45 days, for management). Minimum annual leave is 20 working days.
